Chapter-2 Bolbhav Currency

With the new Bolbhav App version 6.2, the Bolbhav currency has a lot of changes. This page describes the updated requirements regarding the currency in the newer 6.2 version.

Types of currency

In earlier versions of Bolbhav, there were two types of currencies: gold tokens and silver tokens.

Silver Tokens: Silver tokens are essential for using the app and cannot be redeemed into money. They are deducted when a user views price information and can be transferred between users.

Gold Tokens: Gold tokens can be converted into real money, making them more valuable to users. Additionally, users have the option to convert gold tokens into silver tokens at a ratio of 1:2, respectively.

What's new in Version 6.2

With the version 6.2 update, the concept of currency in Bolbhav has been simplified. While there are no means or ways to collect new tokens, users who still possess silver tokens can continue to use them. Silver tokens were primarily used to view crop prices, with four tokens deducted each time a user accessed price information. This deduction occurs once per day, reset at 12:00 AM IST.

Despite the removal of the currency system, users can still utilize their remaining silver tokens to access price information. Over time, as users exhaust their existing token balances, the app will transition to a model where all users have fewer than four silver tokens, as there are no longer any means to earn them.

Why do we remove the currency system?

The decision to remove the currency system stems from our commitment to making Bolbhav more user-friendly, particularly for our target audience of farmers who may have limited education and technical proficiency. Through past user feedback and observations, we identified challenges with users understanding the concept of currency within the app. Many found it complicated and struggled to grasp its purpose.

Our goal is to ensure that Bolbhav is accessible and intuitive for all users, regardless of their technical expertise. By simplifying the user experience and removing the currency system, we aim to streamline the app's functionality and make it easier for users to navigate and utilize its features effectively. This change aligns with our mission to empower farmers with valuable market information in a format that is straightforward and easy to understand.
